Chennai Super Kings is considered as the most consistent side in IPL. Year after year; we find CSK is playing knock-outs in the IPL; i.e in all 10 seasons that CSK has played; they have managed to reach knock-outs. This team possessed legendary players like Michael Hussey, Muttiah Muralitharan and many more. Today, in sixth edition of Cricketphilic Analysis we have chosen the all-time XI of Chennai Super Kings. Check out:
#1: Michael Hussey
Mike Hussey is the first player we picked for our line-up. He has played many match-winning knocks for CSK. Commonly known as Mr.Cricket; he is the third highest run-scorer for Chennai Super Kings.
#2: Brendon McCullum
There was a lot of confusion about whom should we pick: McCullum/ Smith or Vijay. We chose Brendon as in only two seasons which he played for CSK; he was extremely ipressive. He scored 841 runs for CSK; which also included a hundred. It is a shame that he never won IPL with Chennai.
#3: Suresh Raina
Well the batsman at no.3 is Suresh raina. Famously known as ‘Mr. IPL’ he has scored the most runs for the Yellow army. ‘Chinnathala’ has also took some match-turning wickets. He scored runs for CSK at a whopping strike rate of 138 with an impressive average of 33.3.
#4: Ambati Rayudu
Fourth spot in our team goes to Ambati Rayudu. He’s in our team just because of his massive contribution in 2018; in which CSK won IPL. Rayudu had scored 602 runs in that season of IPL. He is also flexible as; he can play either as a batsman or at no.4.
#5: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (C &Wk.)
The most obvious pick for CSK or any other T20 XI. It is ‘THALA’ aka MS Dhoni at no.5. Be it batting, wicket-keeping or capatincy; MSD is ‘class’. He has scored almost 4000 runs for CSK. 3 IPLs, 2 Champions Trophies; and reaching play-offs in every season CSK are a testimony to his extraordinary leadership skills.
#6: DJ Bravo
Next player on our list is DJ ‘Champion’ Bravo. 2-time purple cap winner with CSK. He is the highest wicket taker for CSK in IPL. Additionally, he bats with a strike rate of 135.5.
#7: Ravindra Jadeja
81 wickets for CSK with a good economy of 7.45; Ravindra Jadeja is given no.7 place in our team. He has played a total of 6 seasons with CSK.
#8: Albie Morkel
Before DJ Bravo was the main all-rounder in CSK; Albie Morkel was indispensable part of the same. He played from 2008 to 2013 for the Yellow Army. His bighitting abilities and consistent bowling performances has;been one of the key reasons for CSK’s accomplishment in the early years of IPL. His most memorable moment was when he hit 28 runs in Virat Kohli’s over; on 20 April 2012. From a no-win situation; CSK won that match.
