IPL 2020, CSK VS RR: What went wrong for Chennai Super Kings.

CSK

Last night; Rajasthan Royals won the match by 16 runs against Chennai Super Kings. If you’ve just saw the scorecard then; you might think that it was a close encounter. But in reality it was not. This match was won long before 19th over; when Du Plessis got out.

Here are the factors due to which Chennai Super Kings lost:

Murali Vijay’s slow batting.

The most important thing; if a team chases 200+ runs in T20 is explosiveness from the start; which CSK failed to do. Though Shane Watson was good scoring 33 runs off 21 balls; Murali Vijay disappointed. He didn’t time shots well; just played run-a-ball innings( 21 runs off 21 balls); while chasing such a mountain type score.

It is remain to be seen whether CSK will play him in the next match as he hasn’t impressed in any of the two matches.

Ambati Rayadu’s absence.

Ambati’s absence haunted CSK in this match. Though he was absent due to injury; his presence could’ve changed the result. Though he isnt a 3D player; but he’s a match winner for sure.

Dhoni’s not promoting himself up the batting order.

In a match like this, MS should have come earlier. Sending Sam Curran at no.4 was understandable as he was in form; and he did his part which is pinch-hitting. But when he got out; CSK sent Ruturaj Gaekwad; when Ruturaj got out they sent Kedar Jadhav. Dhoni himself came at no.7 in such a big run chase; which is a blunder CSK did.

We all seen Dhoni’s powers in the last over when he hitted three sixes. He could’ve saved CSK if he batted up the order.

Though Dhoni explained his decision to bat at no.7 after the match by saying that he hadn’t played enough. He also added that he wanted to promote Sam.

Jofra ‘The Game Changer’ Archer.

I am 200% sure if Jofra wasn’t playing yesterday, CSK would’ve won the match. This guy was outstanding in batting; excellent in bowling. He pressurized Ngidi; due to which he conceded 30 runs in the last over.

He was also very economical in bowling. He conceded 26 runs in four overs and took one wicket. It wouldn’t be exaggerating to say that Jofra made the difference!
