Literally, every sport is halted due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Fans are bored without any sport and maybe we could see all our favorite sport in empty stadiums. Virat Kohli – captain of Indian team may not fully endorse the idea of cricket behind closed doors but will eventually accept it if there will be no other chance.
On Star Sports show, Cricket Connected; he was asked about the impact of audience. Kohli replied, “It’s quite a possible situation, it might transpire, I veraciously don’t ken how everyone is going to take that because we all are acclimated to playing in front of so many ardent fans; I ken it will be played at a very good intensity; but that feeling of the crowd connecting with the players and the tension of the game; where everyone goes through it in the stadium, those emotions are very arduous to reconstitute.”
The last international before cricket was halted; due to the pandemic was the first ODI between Australia and New Zealand, which was played at an empty Sydney Cricket Ground.
The Indian skipper went on to say, “Things will still go on, but I doubt that one will feel that magic happening inside because of the atmosphere that was created. We will play sports how it is supposed to be; played but those magical moments will be difficult to come by.”
In the lockdown, Virat Kohli has been live with many players on Instagram like AB De Villiers. His video with Anushka Sharma on Instagram also won many hearts. He also engaged with students on online learing platform: Unacademy. He is also focusing on fitness and training despite the limited conditions; imposed due to Coronavirus.
